Today we look back at some of the College members featured in the past year and the initiatives we’ve supported.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The achievements of our members and the initiatives we’ve championed include sporting success, incredible research and inspirational support for young entrepreneurs:
- Sportswomen like:
- Society members like Gabi Regan-Edwards and Isobel Sutherland who set up a cold-water swimming club with wellbeing at its heart
- Enterprising and caring students like:
- Elise Jenkins whose bioelectronics start-up impressed judges of the Wolfson Enterprise Competition
- Olenka Dmytryk who is working with the Ukrainian Society to mobilise support for her home country and to protest against the Russian invasion
- Our amazing staff like Elaine Fox-Teece who celebrated 20 years working at Trinity Hall this year
- Fellows like:
- Professor Hatice Gunes who carries out ground-breaking research into human-robot interactions research
- Dr Emma Kast whose research revealed that the prehistoric Megalodon could eat just about anything it wanted
- Dr Clare Jackson whose book Devil-Land won the prestigious Wolfson History Prize
- Dr Ingrid Schroder who was named the new Director of the Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture in London
- And those who have joined the College like:
- The 20 inspiring young entrepreneurs with visions of social innovation from Mulberry School for Girls, Tower Hamlets, who visited the College in April last year.
To mark International Women’s Day 2023 the Master will join Cambridge Women in Business (CAMWIB) tonight and take part in a panel discussion with Brontë King and Katie Lloyd to be held at St John’s College.
