Dr Marcus Tomalin

Director of Admissions

Marcus brings a thorough understanding of the University admissions process and a strong relationship with Cambridge. He was a student at Robinson College, but joins Trinity Hall from Downing College, where he was a Fellow and Admissions Tutor for many years. Marcus’ research interests focus on various aspects of natural language, including the relationship between mathematics and linguistic theory. Most recently he has sought to develop language-based artificial intelligence systems that are designed to be more ethical.

“All aspects of admissions are being scrutinised extremely closely at the moment, both within the University and beyond. As Director of Admissions, I will do my best to ensure that the College continues to admit students from all social and educational backgrounds who have the greatest academic ability and potential, and that this is done in a fair and transparent manner.”

Miss Vicky Mills

Admissions Officer

I studied Natural Sciences at Newnham College, specialising in Zoology in my final year. I loved being a student at Cambridge and have been working in Admissions at Trinity Hall since 2004. My role is to communicate with applicants, arrange interviews and handle the administrative side of admissions. I am also happy to answer questions about admissions by email.

Schools Liaison Officer and Admissions Assistant

I studied Natural Sciences at Newnham College, specialising in Chemistry in my third and fourth years, and now work as the Schools Liaison Officer and Admissions Assistant for Trinity Hall. I work with schools to encourage applications to the University of Cambridge, or to Higher Education institutions in general, by raising the aspirations of those from backgrounds with little or no history of progression to university. Find out more about access and outreach at Trinity Hall here, and follow me on Twitter (@TrinityHall_SLO) for application tips, outreach events and ideas for exploring your academic interests.
