His board membership of for-profit companies has included Etsy, Squarespace, Getty Images, Jumia, Helix Sleep, Bloom & Wild, Hambros Bank and Real Networks (in the early days of streaming).

Alongside his business career, Jonathan has been engaged in philanthropy and public service with interests including global health, education, international press freedom, conservation, sport and the arts. He has held board positions with organisations including Grassroot Soccer, the USTA Foundation, Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (as chair), and the Global Business Coalition on Health. He also served for fourteen years as a Trustee of Groton School, later becoming President of its Board of Trustees.
