It is with great sadness that the College marks the death on 11 June 2026 of Professor Antony Jameson, Trinity Hall alumnus (1955, Engineering), former Fellow (1960-63) and Honorary Fellow (from 1991).

Professor Jameson was one of the most influential aerospace engineers of his generation, widely recognised as a leading figure in the development of modern computational fluid dynamics. By bringing advanced mathematics and computational methods into aerodynamic design, he transformed how aircraft are conceived and optimised. His work continues to shape aerospace engineering, applied mathematics and scientific computing worldwide.
His achievements were recognised internationally. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, was a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering, and received the Daniel Guggenheim Medal among other honours. Alongside his research, he was known for his commitment to teaching and mentorship, and for his generosity of spirit.
Professor Jameson will be laid to rest at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Monday 29 June 2026.
