Notes:MS comprised of handwritten and typescript leaves (recto only) with pasted-in manuscript notes and numerous annotations (pencil annotations made after those in ink). Original pen drawing by Joseph Benwell Clark (1857 -1938) for the cover of the published work pasted in to fol. v; original ticket from the Marionette Theatre, Piazza Nuova, Pelermo, Sicily, (upon which the drawing is based) pasted in fol. xi, with notes. Copy of published book with annotations by the author, in St John’s College, Cambridge (Samuel Butler Collection BIV J1). Book first published in 1911. Jones a student at Trinity Hall 1870 – 1874. Foliation of fols. i – xv done by present cataloguer.
