The Ceremony
If you are taking your degree in person, please arrive in Cambridge in good time.
Make sure you observe the dress and gown code as explained in the guidelines, otherwise you may not be allowed to proceed.
Please do try to adhere to the rules, as the Senate House is extremely strict on these matters.
You will need to hire a gown (you can’t use the undergraduate gown) and hood, and you can find information on where to hire these, and what to wear under them, from the University website.
The Bridgetower Room will be open for you to robe up in.
*If you have requested tickets for the Senate House, they will be available to collect from the Porter’s Lodge on the morning of the ceremony*
The Proctors’ and Marshal’s Office have issued the following information for guests attending the ceremony –
“For security, safety and practical space restriction purposes, rucksacks, holdalls, shopping bags or bags larger than 35cm x 25cm may not be taken into the Senate House or the surrounding grounds. If you need to keep your bag with you, you must seek assistance from a Proctor/Constable who may check contents prior to entry to the Senate House. Please allow sufficient time for the additional delays this may cause. If you have queries about this please contact proctors&marshalsoffice@admin.cam.ac.uk”
If you have a guest(s) with mobility challenges, please ask them to notify the University Constable at the entrance to Senate House. The constable will be able to assist and seat your guest(s) appropriately.
Although there is no prescriptive dress code for guests, typically guests choose to dress smartly.
For family and friends who can’t attend the ceremony in person, they can watch the ceremony at https://cambridge.graduations-live.co.uk/ by selecting the Saturday 28 March date and then the Trinity Hall ceremony, which is due to start at 2.05pm.
The live stream is provided on the understanding that it is a private recording, not to be publicly shared on social media or in any public forum. Recordings are held for two months following the ceremony and then permanently deleted.
Tea and Cake
For those of you who have booked tickets for the tea & cake, actual tickets will not be issued, but names will be checked on arrival. Separate plates will be available for those with specific dietary requirements.
Accommodation
Key cards for College accommodation should be collected from the Porter’s Lodge / Reception (for WYNG) of the site where you are staying. Check-in on Saturday opens at 10.00am for all rooms.
If your room isn’t ready when you arrive and you have bags you need to leave somewhere, the Bridgetower Room will be available as a luggage store. Please don’t leave valuables in there as it will not be possible to keep it secure.
For those arriving on Friday, check-in will be after 4.00pm.
