Hall Histories: a Trinity Hall journal

Monochrome plan of Trinity Hall from 1688

Hall Histories is the new scholarly journal of Trinity Hall: a place for research articles, notes and queries, and other occasional pieces on all aspects of the the history, life, and times of the College.

The editors are seeking submissions for the inaugural edition, to be published in the 2025/26 academic year in conjunction with the celebrations of the College’s 675th anniversary.

Topics can include:

  • The collections and history of the Library and Archives
  • Aspects of the buildings, collections, and general material culture of the College, past and present
  • The lives and works of past College Fellows, staff, students, and other Members down through history
  • Oddities and miscellanea, unusual, antiquarian, or interesting notes on Trinity Hall and its history at large

The journal aims to promote and make more accessible the contents of the Library and Archives in particular, but also to provide a place for pieces of Trinity Hall life and history which might not otherwise have a ready outlet, or be able to find an obvious audience. Submissions are welcome from anyone, at any stage of research, whether current member of Trinity Hall or not.

Submission guidelines

Articles and notes submitted for consideration can be as short as a page or two, but ideally of no more than 5,000 words; of a scholarly but generally accessible and engaging tone, and formatted with consistent references in the form of footnotes.

Submissions, proposals and questions should be sent to the editors, Jenni Lecky-Thompson and Benjamin Iago Gibson at hallhistories@trinhall.cam.ac.uk.
