The Rt Hon Lord (Angus) Glennie

Biography

After reading history from 1969-72, Angus Glennie was called to the bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1974, practised in commercial chambers at 4 Essex Court (now Essex Court Chambers) and 20 Essex Street (formerly 3 Essex Court), and was appointed QC in 1992.  In 1992, he qualified as an advocate in Scotland and thereafter practised at the bar both in Edinburgh and London. He took silk in Scotland in 1998. In 2005 he was appointed a judge in Scotland (Court of Session and High Court of Justiciary) with the judicial title of Lord Glennie. He was appointed to the Inner House (equivalent to the Court of Appeal) in 2016 and subsequently sworn in as a member of the Privy Council.  He retired in 2020.

He was elected a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2007.

Angus Glennie is married with 4 children. In addition to his legal practice, he lives with his wife on an upland farm in the Scottish Borders, helping her manage some 700 breeding ewes and 40 pedigree Aberdeen Angus cows.
