My Favourite Place
The Angel Bookshop, distractingly located on the way to my faculty library, has become one of my favourite places to go in Cambridge when I’m in need of a relatively guilt-free way of procrastinating. The black-and-white, arty, French postcards in the window first drew me in, and so I discovered the delightful basement, where an odd and seemingly cobbled-together collection of books is housed: fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose, biography and travel books – this little shop seems to have it all.
It is still wonderfully undiscovered, meaning that the basement is often deserted enough for me to be able to sit cross-legged on the floor and flick through the pages of the eclectic collection before deciding to purchase something unexpected with money I don’t really have. I’m usually in there twice as long as I should be, before I can will myself to get up and drag myself off down the road to the library, where I really should have been during all that time.
