Twisted Limelight (Cornish Conundrums Book 5) by David Burnell (1965)

Twisted Limelight book coverDescription

George Gilbert is in Bude to help with the Limelight Exhibition, in honour of Sir Goldsworthy Gurney - the man who discovered limelight and used it to light the Houses of Parliament for half a century. But she has been told to watch out for something twisted.

Newly-promoted Peter Travers is battling to assert his authority in Bude police station. The missing chimney sweep is only the latest case attracting his team’s attention.

But it is only when Maxine Tavistock tells George her dramatic and disturbing tale that the various strands start to weave together. Can the three untwist this web of confusion?
