A Memorial Service for Dennis Avery (1940 - 2012), who died on Monday 23 July 2012, will be held in College on Saturday 1 June 2013 at 2.30 pm. Dennis Avery (TH 1980 and Honorary Fellow) was one of the College's greatest benefactors.

Sixty years ago, the first successful ascent of Everest depended on the successful use of oxygen and the mountain is still helping us to understand the effect of oxygen, or lack of it, on the human body.

Professor Sir Roy Calne (Honorary Fellow) and Dr Thomas Starzl (University of Pittsburgh) have been honored with the 2012 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award for their work on liver transplantation, an intervention that has restored normal life to thousands of patients with end-stage liver disease.
