|Date & time|

|Booking closing date||Friday, 27 August 12:00pm|
|Dress code||Academic dress for the ceremony | smart evening wear for dinner|
Those undergraduates who were eligible to graduate last year are now invited back to College to celebrate their degree at an in-person ceremony in the Senate House, with lunch served in College and graduation dinner in the evening. The ceremony is also open to students due to graduate in 2021.
The day will run as closely as possible to a typical graduation day, although guests won’t be able to join you at the Senate House. The Ceremony will however be live-streamed so that friends and family can watch it online. Trinity Hall is hoping to provide a screening of this within College for the 2 guests that can accompany you on the day. More details of the live-streaming will be provided closer to the date.
On the Day
The exact timing of the ceremony will only be known the week before the event, but the Trinity Hall contingent usually proceeds to the Senate House around 11.15am.
On the day itself, make sure you arrive in Cambridge in good time and carefully observe the dress and gown code, otherwise you may not be allowed to proceed.
A group graduation photograph will be taken before you line-up to process to the Senate House.
Those of you who are yet to take your degree can go through the traditional graduation ceremony. Those of you who chose to graduate in absentia last summer can “celebrate” your degree. We will split you into the relevant group so you go through with others in the same situation.
The College will organise a traditional graduation Garden Party, to which you can invite a maximum of 2 guests. Lunch will be served in College either before or after the ceremony, depending on timings.
Please be aware however, that all these arrangements are subject to change or cancellation depending on government guidelines and regulations at the time. Please note that any travel arrangements or bookings you make will be at your own risk and the College will not be liable to compensate you if the events on the day have to be cancelled. The College will refund any Garden Party tickets if the event cannot go ahead.
As it was unable to take place last summer, there will also be a Graduation dinner in College on the evening of the 10 September.
Space in the Dining Hall, as I’m sure you remember, is rather restricted, so it will not be possible to bring guests to the dinner.
There will be a seating plan for the dinner, so please indicate on the booking form who you would like to sit with. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
Dress code for the dinner is smart, with black tie optional (no gowns).
An important part of the degree ceremony is the dress code. If you are taking your degree in person you will need to hire a gown and hood, and you can find information on where to hire these, and what to wear under them, from the University website. Alternatively you can download a helpful guide to Academical Dress here.
Accommodation will be available for the Friday night. This will be in –
- single student rooms on Central Site (£45 bed & breakfast)
- single ensuite rooms at Wychfield (£50 room only | £60 bed & breakfast)
- double ensuite rooms at WYNG Gardens on Thompson’s Lane (£100 bed & breakfast)
If you wish to stay overnight, please choose your preferred option when booking.
Breakfast for both Wychfield and WYNG Gardens guests will be served on Central Site.
