Background

The Society of Women Artists was founded in 1855 to promote fine art created by women, and has held an annual exhibition of the work of female artists in London since 1857. Many famous artists have been members of the society and current members include Daphne Todd OBE, June Mendoza OBE and Philomena Davis.

The annual exhibition showcases up to 450 works of exceptional art created by women. Young artists are especially encouraged  to fulfil their potential, with opportunities for sixth formers and young female art students to exhibit their work. The work on show is a rich and diverse mix of contemporary art, including paintings in various media, sculpture, prints and mixed media work.

Trinity Hall will have exclusive access to the exhibition on Thursday 8 June.
