NGS Wychfield Open Day 2013

Peony Trinity Hall

In previous years Wychfield has opened as part of the NGS in April, so visitors were excited to see the gardens in summer. The weather was extremely hot, but the opportunity to have a homemade tea and cake in the Pavilion helped keep peoples energy levels up (including the gardeners and volunteers!). The gardens roses were much admired, in particular ‘Cardinal de Richelieu’ and ‘Charles de Mills’. The Monarda ‘Cambridge Scarlet’ planted in the Sunken Garden was also popular, offering a splash of bright red colour and a fantastic scented foliage. We chose Parkinson’s UK as our nominated charity this year so 25% of the money raised went to help with their good work, the remaining money went to the NGS’s charities which include Marie Curie and other nursing charities.
