Biography

Lord Fowler has been awarded honorary degrees from the University of Hull and the City of Birmingham University and has recently been elected an honorary Master of the Inner Temple. He is Patron of the British HIV Consultants Association and has been a board member of the National Aids Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

He married Fiona in 1979, and has two daughters, Kate and Isobel, and step son Oliver.

1979-81 Minister of Transport in Cabinet and then Secretary of State

1981- 87 Secretary of State for Health and Social Security; led public health campaign on Aids
