Seeing the beginning

On Tuesday 28 July 2020 we hosted our first Trinity Hall webinar ‘Seeing the beginning’ by Dr Blake Sherwin (2004).

By studying the cosmic microwave background (CMB), we can look back in time and reveal the fiery early Universe when it was only 0.003% of its present age. In this talk, Blake discusses how, by studying the CMB, we can find out about the origin, composition, and ultimate fate of our Universe. He also explains some of the current research in this field, such as the search for primordial gravitational waves that would give new insights into what happened in the very beginning.

Dr Blake Sherwin (2004), is an alumnus of Trinity Hall and University Lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP).
