Holey Glass

In his latest work, Trinity Hall Research Fellow Dr Thomas Bennett shows how melting crystalline porous materials facilitates the formation of hybrid glasses. Importantly, and in contrast to most traditional glasses, the glasses produced are porous to molecular species, and may therefore be of use in ion conduction. He used the Runcie window in the chapel as part of the graphics for the work, which was selected as the front cover for the associated issue of the journal Chemical Communications.
