Emma Bird, Vice-President of the June Event committee 2022
Emma Bird is in the first year of a Philosophy of Mathematics and Logic MPhil at Trinity Hall and is Vice-President of the June Event Committee 2022.
What do you enjoy most about studying/living in Cambridge?
The chaos of trying to schedule in seeing friends around everyone’s hectic lives – but it being all the more lovely to see people knowing you’ve all made time for each other.
What drew you to your role in the June Event?
In my second year, I planned the non-musical entertainment for Above the Clouds, 2020 (that year’s planned June Event). We had some big visions which unfortunately never came to fruition due to Covid, but I loved the planning process, the big ideas and the opportunity to transform the College site. This year, I knew I wanted to have a more central role – the experience has been invaluable and Alex (President) has been an amazing person to work with and learn from. I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved this year and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.

What’s the best thing about Trinity Hall?
You can walk on the grass on Latham Lawn!
What are you looking forward to most at the June Event?
The food! We have some really exciting local brands coming in and, having been to a few tastings with our food officer Camile, I know I will be making a beeline for some incredible food stalls. I’m also really looking forward to seeing a lot of my year from undergrad at the alumni reception – we missed out on a June Event last year and the alumni reception will be such a nice way of bringing people together.
You can’t reveal this year’s theme yet but what’s your favourite theme of June Events of old?
Marmalade skies, 2015
Tickets for the June Event will be available from 1 March. For more information see the official June Event website.
