Tax Efficient Giving: Hong Kong

Donors in Hong Kong are able to give tax-efficiently via the Hong Kong Foundation for Charities, which Trinity Hall is affiliated to. Donations must be for education, religion or the relief of poverty.

Hong Kong tax paying donors can claim a deduction for donations of HK$100 or more to an approved charity but only up to an aggregate amount less than 35% their taxable income (i.e. after allowable expenses and depreciation allowances). For example, someone earning HK$1,000,000 could donate up to HK$350,000 before their tax deduction would be capped if making a donation of this size, the donor would pay tax on $1,000,000 less $350,000 less their other allowances.

Donations can be made securely online with paypal or credit card via the webpage:

Alternatively you can download this form and send it to HKFC, Suite 1106-08, 11/F., Tai Yau Building, 181 Johnston Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. Cheques should be payable to the Hong Kong Foundation for Charities and be accompanied by the form or details are on the form for a bank transfer.

Please note Credit Card payments processed on the College website from Hong Kong are not tax efficient.
