Prospective Students

Naomi, BA English

Back to Meet the Students ->

NaomiHello! My name is Naomi and I am a first year English student at Trinity Hall. I hail from the exotic shores of Newcastle, so I am loving the relative dryness of Cambridge!

fortunately my complete lack of sporting prowess was no excuse against the persuasions of the Porter who coaches us."

As well as reading medieval literature in the gaps between tea breaks, I am taking a Spanish course for beginners at the Cambridge Language Centre and Trinity Hall’s Geordie colours inspired me to take up football for the first time. It was just about the last thing I ever imagined doing, but fortunately my complete lack of sporting prowess was no excuse against the persuasions of the Porter who coaches us. I am also involved with a great local church and the Christian Union College Group, which is a very supportive, welcoming place for both Christians and people who want to examine the claims of Jesus.

I had so many resolutions for new things I wanted to do in this, my second, term: I had plans to start journalism, ballroom dancing and lacrosse, as well as taking better advantage of the many plays and concerts that run throughout term. Sadly the day has too few hours and I like sleep a little bit too much! Work is an important part of Cambridge life but whatever your interests or hobbies are outside of your subject, you are sure to find both the time to do it, and the people who are excited about it, too.
