Prospective Students

Catherine, LLM

Back to Meet the Students ->

CatherineI chose an LLM at Trinity Hall as an opportunity to study specialist areas of law such as Banking Law, Corporate Governance and International Commercial Litigation, which I knew would give me a head start in my career.

I loved having the opportunity to live and work alongside a truly international class of budding lawyers. There were lively exchanges of ideas, and I built up the skills which I now rely on so heavily in my career – critical thinking, effective communication and influencing, and always being ready to take on a challenge!

After the LLM, I spent a few months indulging my passion for politics as a Research Assistant for an MP. I then joined the law firm Slaughter and May, qualifying into the Tax Department. When, in 2006, the opportunity arose to become Head of Legal and Governance for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, I jumped at the chance to run a legal department for this well-known scientific research and conservation charity. In 2010, I joined Samsung Electronics as Legal Counsel – a dynamic business in an exciting industry.
