Lord Oliver of Aylmerton

The College is greatly saddened to learn of the death of one of its Honorary Fellows, Lord Oliver of Aylmerton. Peter Raymond Oliver was born on 7 March 1921 in Cambridge and came up to Trinity Hall in 1939 to read Law, following his father who was a Law Fellow at the College.

Lord Oliver was highly distinguished lawyer, who became a QC in 1965. Appointed a Judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court in 1974, he was promoted Lord Justice of Appeal in 1980, and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 1986. He retired in 1992.
