Former Master's book on the last days of the British Empire published

8 August 2007

Professor Peter Clarke's latest book, "The Last Thousand Days of the British Empire" has been published by Penguin.

Beginning with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference in September 1943, and ending with Indian Independence in August 1947, Professor Clark analyses how the various military, economic and political factors interacted, whilst also taking a detached look at the role played by the USA over the period in question.

Professor Clarke was Master of Trinity Hall 2000-2004 and held the Chair in Modern British History at Cambridge 1999-2001.
