Sir Robert Honeycombe FRS

The College is greatly saddened to learn of the death of one of its Honorary Fellows, Sir Robert Honeycombe.

Sir Robert born in Australia in 1921, and was a Fellow of the College from 1966, becoming an Honorary Fellow in 1975. He was a distinguished metallurgist, who was responsible for the expanding the Department of Metallurgy to encompass Materials Science. Professor Honeycombe was knighted in 1990, and was also a Fellow of the Royal Society and of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
