Graduate Life

Students regularly say: ‘I had no idea until I arrived that Trinity Hall MCR was renowned for being the best in Cambridge,’ or ‘I’m amazed at how natural, friendly, accessible and un-frightening Cambridge is.’ Students regularly recommend the Hall to their friends.

One of the things we are working hard to develop is the sense of Trinity Hall as an academic community, involving all its members. You might think this strange, but most graduate communities in Colleges across Cambridge are primarily social, and the grads see little of the Fellowship. Undergraduates receive teaching from the senior members (Fellows) of the College, and so that creates an academic relationship in that part of the community. Graduates are fully-fledged adults, and are (in the main) studying because they identify with their subject, and have a passion for it. Through the introduction of a senior mentorship scheme, the admission of post-doctoral students to the MCR, a number of seminar series and the relative youth of our Fellowship, there is a real sense of growing some extremely rewarding adult-to-adult academic relationships across the College.
