About

Dr Ann Simon

Physicist Dr Ann Simon was Trinity Hall’s first ever female student, joining the College as a graduate student in Michaelmas Term 1976. She had “an insanely good time” and loved how Trinity Hall, with its welcoming community, seemed to project a sort of “wrap around aspect” which comforted her when work and the department got her down.

Dr Ann Simon

She remembers wonderful parties greatly helped by Abdo’s secret recipe for punch. After five years as a Research Fellow at Trinity Hall and ten years working as a physicist in the Cavendish Laboratory, Ann moved to finance, performing a host of leading roles, particularly in the life sciences and technology sectors. Success, she reminds her two children, demands that “if you want to achieve anything in life, you gotta go for it” but “try not to burn bridges”.
