A New Etching of Trinity Hall

The original Loggan prints of Oxbridge colleges have long been collectors’ items.  The Trinity Hall Loggan print, dated 1689, has become an iconic and much-loved image of the College.  It is also a rare find.  A mere 320 years later, the College has commissioned Andrew Ingamells, best known for his etchings of classical architectural subjects, to undertake a new Gravure Etching of its grounds and buildings, updating the 1689 view and adding images of Wychfield, the Old Library and a view from the river of Latham Lawn and Front Court.

Sheet size: 21 x 28 ins (510 x 710 mm);  image size:  14 x 22.5 ins (353 x 568 mm); on white Hannemuhle etching paper; signed, numbered edition limited to 150 etchings only.  Price is inclusive us VAT and delivery within Europe, and are exclusive of VAT but inclusive of delivery to the rest of the world.

The Hidden Hall: Portrait of a Cambridge College

Published November 2004

Hidden HallThe Hidden Hall is available directly from the publishers' at http://www.tmiltd.com/shop/home/pld/11. Click on the Universities and Colleges section, scroll down and follow instructions. Alternatively, copies are available to purchase from the Porters' Lodge, Price: £20.00; if posted, £25.50 (UK) or £40.00 (Overseas)

The Hidden Hall brings together the personal recollections of Trinity Hall students and Fellows, past and present, in a poignant anthology. Sometimes acerbic, often funny, these accounts document the shift of the Hall from a 'law college' to one that now produces eminent scientists, engineers and linguists, and from a bastion of wealthy, male privilege to a modern institution that takes in men and women from all backgrounds and every part of the world.

Some of the luminaries of the past are here, including Robert Herrick, Leslie Stephen and J.B. Priestley. So are more recent alumni including former Chancellor and Foreign Secretary Geoffrey Howe, Test cricketer and Anglican bishop David Sheppard, journalist and radio presenter Mark Tully, theatre director Nicholas Hytner, and actress Rachel Weisz. Changes in the fabric of the College are examined by architect Tristan Rees Roberts, and today's Fellows reveal how the College fits into the wider University, how it is run and financed, and what challenges face it in the future.

Editor

Peter Pagnamenta read History at Trinity Hall, edited Varsity and was subsequently Editor of Panoramaand Head of Television Current Affairs at the BBC. He has produced a number of major television documentary series including All Our Working Lives, and the award-winning 26-part People's Century for BBC1.
