Tree surgery at Wychfield
7 February 2013
During January 2013 a team of tree surgeons were busy carrying out various work on trees at Wychfield as part of our ongoing tree management plan, caring for and maintaining in excess of 300 trees made up of a wide range of species. The work carried out in January included removing deadwood and reducing the end weight on trees to improve the balance of the tree. Two trees were also felled. One, as it had a significant lean. The other was suffering with decay at the base and was located close to buildings and pathways. In some respects it is sad to see an old or diseased tree removed, but this can bring opportunities for the surrounding plants to flourish. Aswell as this, we endeavour to plant young trees, in order to maintain a diverse stock of trees of various ages.
